Give Where Needed Most

Support the work of Able Up Iowa to help Iowans of all abilities achieve financial independence and live fulfilling and productive lives.

Contribute to a Forgivable Loan

A person with a disability who cannot afford a loan to purchase the assistive tool needed for independence can receive a partially or fully forgivable loan. Forgivable loan recipients are required to participate in our Financial Empowerment program. This loan type is based on a hand-up, not a hand-out philosophy. Financial challenges are preventing people from living independently.

Support Financial Education & Goals

Our Financial Empowerment Program empowers our members to gain the knowledge, habits and behavior needed for long-term financial success. This program offers financial coaching, credit coaching, resource counseling, and benefits planning. Participants in these programs work one-on-one with coaches to develop and implement plans customized to their personal situation and needs.

Empower Iowa Mothers

As a mother, you want to do everything you can to empower your son or daughter to reach his or her full potential. But sometimes the obstacles you face as a mother can seem impossible to overcome. This can be especially true for the mother of a child with a disability. That’s why an Iowa mother created a fund to support other moms. She wanted to help mothers by removing the financial obstacles preventing their children with disabilities from living their best lives.

Kelly Murphy of Throwing Stones Glass House is an Iowa artist and mother of a child who relies on an assistive device. Kelly understands the importance of making it possible for individuals with disabilities to live their lives with as much dignity and independence as possible. She has designed a jewelry set as a thank you gift for individuals who invest $1,000 or more to this fund.

We invite you to join Kelly Murphy and others in becoming a founding member of the Iowa Women Are Able Fund. Your support at any amount is greatly appreciated!

It is only through supportive community partners that Able Up Iowa can consistently serve Iowans facing poverty. It is essential we expand our cohort of individual donors to meet the needs of our members. By investing in the lives of our Iowa friends, family members and neighbors, Empowerment Circle donors play an important role in giving our members the financial services and support to move from a place of vulnerability to empowerment.
